Corporate Technical Achievement Award
Deadline for Nominations: January 9, 2008 This award was initiated in 1986 to recognize outstanding technical achievements by ACerS Corporate Members in the field of ceramics. These achievements must show significant technical merit and represent a gain to society through commercialization of the technology. Through this award, the Society recognizes Corporate Members who have taken a technology and successfully developed it into a viable commercial product. It is not necessary for the technical and commercial development to be accomplished by one company, and joint nominations can be submitted. The awards are formally presented to designated corporate representatives at the Annual Meeting banquet. Details of the technology and product commercialization are presented at a special technical session and a full-page feature is included in the Bulletin. The Nominating Process Any member can submit a nomination on behalf of an organization. Nominees must be a current corporate member or must join as a corporate member to qualify for the award. Nominations should consist of a concise description of the achievement (500 words maximum) outlining its significance in terms of technical merit and commercial success. Other appropriate documents that would aid in the evaluation process also are requested. To better understand what is expected, read the evaluation process instructions given to subcommittee members as a basis for judging the nominations. Nominations not selected for an award will remain eligible for consideration for two years. Nominations can be resubmitted, especially when new information can be provided to show further developments in the commercial position. Joint nominations, where two or more companies have combined resources to develop a commercial product, can be submitted.
