About Us The Basic Science Division of The American Ceramic Society is dedicated to the development of the ceramic science underlying present and future applications of ceramics. The Basic Science Division fosters the scientific and technological foundations of ceramic science, identifying new areas in, and fields of, ceramic science critical to our current and future members.

Scott T. Misture
Candidate statement:
While I have not yet held any positions in ACerS, I have extensive experience in scientific organizations and have attended at least three ACerS meetings each year – including the Annual Meeting, Cocoa Beach, and the GOMD meetings. I have served as an organizer of the Denver X-ray Conference for the past 6 years, as well as serving as a director of the ICDD for the past 3 years. Both activities provide the background needed to take a leadership role in the division.
Education:
Employment: (11/94 to 10/96) Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the High Temperature Materials
Accomplishments:
Research centers on materials for energy conversion, with an emphasis on the structural chemistry of ionic and mixed conductors, photocatalysts, and gas separation materials.
ACerS History: Member since 1989, primary involvement with Basic Science and Glass & Optical Divisions.
