Mark A Stett - A Profile In Excellence
![]() National Refractories & Minerals, now retired Educational Background: Mark graduated from ACerS Involvement & Honors: Mr. Stett has been a member of the American Ceramic Society since 1962, served seventeen years as a member of the Refractories Division Executive Committee, seventeen years as an Associate Editor for the Journal, fifteen years on the A.W. Allen Award committee becoming its chair in 2000, several times in Session Chair and Program Chair positions, and as Division Chair in 1999. Made a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society in 1996. With the Research Department at National Refractories has done product development in the areas of high alumina brick, plastics and ramming mixes, and basic brick and mortars. Has also done customer service work for the glass, aluminum, copper, nickel, coal gasification, boiler, incinerator, and cement industries. Other notable accomplishments include: Active member of ASTM C.08 since 1983 and received their Award of Merit in 1998. Was Program Chair for UNITECR 1997 and chair of the Executive Board for UNITECR 2005 Selected as a Distinguished Life Member of UNITECR in 2005. Received the Planje Award from the St.Louis Section in 2001. Besides ACerS and ASTM, Mark is a habitual golfer and includes as hobbies sports and the stock market. Mark joined ACerS in 1962 for the professional contacts and remains a member to attend meetings to see old friends and work with new friends. |
